Self Contained
The Duck House is a beautiful, renovated cottage with restored antique furniture throughout. Perfectly located, it is just a short walk to the city centre, art gallery, the beach or the Burnie Park.
The cottage is fully self contained and sleeps 5. The kitchen is well equipped and breakfast provisions are provided. You are welcome to use anything out of the garden out the back.
The roomy bathroom contains a clawfoot bath as well as a spacious shower. Towels and all linen are in place. If you visit in the cooler months there is ducted heating that ensures the temperature is to your liking all year round.
The two bedroom cottage derives its name from Captain Duck of the Salvation Army, who was once the owner. The current owners of 37 years, Lynne and Titch, painstakingly renovated and named it The Duck House. They placed a picture of a duck on a wall, and things took off from there with them discovering that many people are collectors of 'all things duck' and take delight in adding the duck memorabilia on hand.
Lynne and Titch also have another two renovated cottages for guests to stay in, Mrs Philpotts and Amelia's. Mrs Philpotts is right next door and Amelia's is located one house away around a corner. In fact the dividing fences have been removed so the vegetable and herb garden can be accessed by all three.
