Tasmania
Museums Art and Culture
Narryna Heritage Museum is only a short walk from the centre of Hobart. The Georgian house, which was built in 1836, offers great insight into the lifestyle of prosperous Hobart merchant and his family in the 19th century.
Each room contains unique items that represent life for a colonial merchant in Hobart, as well as showcasing many items complementing the domestic duties that were carried out by servants. Narryna Heritage Museum has a large costume collection representative of the era. These are regularly rotated.
It was in 1955 that Narryna was established as Australia's first heritage museum.
Entry Fee applies.
